Dust...and more dust...and then some more....

Yesterday my husband knocked down a wall.
I was very happy about this....I had wanted him to do it for years.
It was an internal wall.
Making a small bedroom slightly larger.
He was very good at closing all doors in the house before he got going with the
lump hammer.....so that hopefully he could contain some of the dust.....and we don't live in a big house.
Home for us is a 4 bedroom semi......but boy oh boy there is now dust in places you cannot imagine.
So the list for the next few months looks like this....
Buy new boiler.
Have new boiler installed.
Strip two bedrooms.
Plaster certain walls.
Paint and decorate two bedrooms, the hall, stairs and landing.
Re-tile the floor in the downstairs loo.
Replace curtains in two rooms with blinds.
Dust.
Then dust some more.
It might have been easier to move.....................................................

Blimey - that's a long 'to do' list! Are you taking advantage of the Boiler Scrappage Scheme? You can get 500 quid back for your old boiler and free cavity wall and loft insulation if you don't already have them. It's all part of the Government's Green Deal Plan. Might as well go the whole hog! Have a great dust-free weekend Libs. xxx

Nature abhors a vacuum... and Nature's agent in this is dust.

Hmm. We're about to have a bit of wall knocked down (to enlarge an archway) and I was kidding myself that the dust wouldn't be TOO bad. Ho hum.

There is definitely a large chasm between dreaming about the finished effect of a DIY home improvement and actually getting to that finish. Good luck, post pics!

Don't talk to me about dust! Weeks after our new bathrooms and the bloody stuff is still appearing.

Trish.....I'm thinking of taking the Quentin Crisp approach about it....

Oh dear, horrible situation. Our new Dyson (extra super suction and you can SEE it all) was still picking up plaster dust a full year after our extension....

Dust us the work of the devil...he clearly lived in that small place and you have unleashed. We are all doomed.

I feel sorry for "The Mister". He is not your slave. If you need a slave why not order one on the internet from Albania or Kurdistan? Freedom for The Mister! Freedom to Visit The Pub! Freedom to Doss About! Freedom from She Who Must be Obeyed!

S....crikey!
CQ...luckily I'm not overly houseproud..I do my best and that is enough!
YP...The Mister would be lost without me............he knows where his bread is buttered.

Grrr...I know I commented...Blogger is a bugger. But not as much a bugger as dust. You have your work cut out (or knocked down) for you...

NB...commenting seems to be a little hit and miss sometimes with blogger...and being able to read things in google reader but not on the blog itself....anyhow...yes...dust is in every little nook and cranny of the house....but I will not let it get me down!
