chance and circumstance.....

At the moment I am thinking about how lucky I am.
Not in a smug way.
In a 'how very fortunate I am' way.

With the mister and our daughter today we have had a trip to the potteries, a visit to a City for some shopping, then some lunch followed by a visit to a Cathedral, and are now back at home for a cup of tea.  My friend has not had such a good time.....she has been  burgled.
She is a single woman.
For years she has lived alone confidently.
She was in the house when the burglary was taking place. She was terrified.
It is not that they/he/whoever took her bag and blackberry and keys and cards and purse and ipod. Nor that they took her car. They took her emotional well being, her confidence, her feeling of security and safety.

Oh that's awful. I'm so sorry for your friend. That happened to a friend of mine once - although thankfully she was not in the house at the time. They took her car. They did nasty unnecessary things like emptying a vase of old flower water over the settee. They even took her iron. But like you say, it was not the material things that shook her up - it was the feeling someone had been in.

So sorry to hear that. We are very lucky.

Deer Baby/Alison?..I HATE burglars......I am sure many people have been burgled (we have been .. twice) and, you are right, the stuff they take isn't usually what the upset is about (althought it is very inconvenient) it's the feeling of being invaded. I am counting my blessings......
ps. the iron? the iron?? what is the matter with people......

That's just really stinky. I hope the person that did it rots in hell.

How horrible. Having our homes defiled is something we all fear but tend to put to the back of our minds... when it actually happens though, the back of the mind no longer exists and it becomes a horrible fear to live with.

The really neat thing about Doberman Pinschers is that they remain completely quiet... until the burglar is in the house.

Kellogsville, Steve and Marcheline...thank you all for commenting. We are all of the same mind really aren't we? Scared of the bad people who do mindless things....just hoping they stay out of our lives...sad isn't it?
