I downloaded AVG free on advice from other bloggers when I bought my new laptop and it does a scan every week and touch wood everything seems to be fine. Just google AVG and only take the free stuff xxx
I always use Norton. If you're running Windows 7 then all you should need is Norton's antivirus software as Window's built in firewall should be enough.
You can download antivirus software straight from your laptop. I use `Avast Antivirus` which is free for the basic package. I also use `Spyware Doctor` from `PC Tools` - downloadable from your laptop - which scans for trojans etc.,immunises and protects, not free but quite cheap and you can also upgrade to premium packages for further protection but might slow down the performance of your computer.Windows also has its own firewall automatically installed.Google`s your friend if you want to search for other options. Hope this helps and all from the comfort of your own sofa!
My husband, an IT geek and professional, (after trialling Norton and Macafee (sp?)) swears by PC Tools, not cost-free, but more effective in the long run than the others at picking up grayware (where you don't really know what it's doing to your pc) and bad/blocked sites and so on, as well as viruses. Best of luck, Fhi x
Many thanks everyone...what a helpful bunch your are x
I've had Zonealarm in the past on my brother's recommendation. Don't know which is best though. Sorry.
