Shall we all hold hands and jump together?

New Years Eve.
Scary times.
2011 is done and dusted and all was well.
Big sigh of relief all around.
Thanks given every morning and evening.
2012? who knows.........scary times indeed.

I wish health and happiness, peace and contentment for all x

Whatever it was we didn't need it.......

The thing I couldn't remember? still can't, but it didn't matter as we had a lovely Christmas without it.

I am, it must be true, at least a stone heavier now than I was last Christmas, and I did just eat a bowl of trifle...ok lots of cream and custard calling itself trifle, even though I wasn't hungry. I just fancied it. I have no restraint at this time of year. Well truth be told I have very little restraint most of the year to be honest. Unless we're talking whitebait or oysters........I am very good at saying no to them.
And the eating and drinking will continue. One group of family members have been safely delivered home today and we have a slight lull before more are visiting in the next few days.

I suspect that come January 1st I will declare to anyone who will listen that I am going on a diet. They will nod and mmmmmmm, and then say nothing when they see me falling off the diet wagon, clutching a packet of crisps and a cake to my chest saying 'I'm a bit peckish'. Hope springs eternal though and I really will try, so I have four more days in which  I can carry on with the rest of the food'n'booze. Top up anyone?

The imaginary bit of string on my finger....

Tree? yes...
Turkey? yes..
Cream? yes..
Presents? yes.....
Oh what the heck....if I can't remember the thing I can't remember we will have to go without.......
Nearly there folks, and I think that tonight, after lighting a few candles and picking up my folks and making sure we are all fed and watered and have a clean bed to sleep in, I might start sliding into my slow, steady, calming and peaceful alcoholic haze.......y'know just to keep me going over the next few days of fun, family and festivity.....what do you think? what can I get you?

So far so good....

The tree is up.
Daughter is back from University (although with a cold/cough/sore throat combo).
Presents are bought/wrapped/hidden.
Provisions are in, apart from the fresh stuff.
Menu is planned (same as most years....not one for going against tradition at the best of times).
Family and friends are coming to Christmas lunch, so with luck there should be a seat, a drink and a warm welcome for everyone.
How is your pre-Christmas week going?

And so it begins.....

I used this picture last year and have no shame in using it again now....I recycle everything else and this pic from last year  pleases me, as a Christmas card of sorts, so I am using the magic of the internet to send this to you.......yes say thank you for reading my blog and have a wonderful Christmas.
A little early for a card I hear you say? well yes, but I am trying to get into the swing and tick things off my big list so bear with me......
In order to get into the spirit of the thing I am also going to brave the  shops (I have another list), wrap some presents, and Christmas is going to start in this house pretty damn soon.....

On the road again......

I have spent hours and hours on motorways today. Drove north very early in the morning by the light of the big bright moon and then drove south in the dark again by the light of the moon. My dad was my  passenger, and was 'helping me' with suggestions about which lane to be in and which route to we were attending his sisters funeral, I didn't want to cause him any stress by letting him know that I am not 12 and do know how to get from a-b. Shall we just say that we had a bit of an adventure by taking the scenic route now and again when we didn't really intend to. But hey, I was with my pa and was lucky enough to come away from a cemetery with him still beside me, so s'all good.

I think I am going to ask Santa for a satnav.

Just for now.
